Anne Furness trained in ceramics and education at King Alfred’s College, Winchester. Throughout her teaching career in primary schools, she has taken every opportunity to give her pupils experiences working with clay. Her continued interest in ceramics has led her to complete a range of courses and workshops to develop her skills.

Anne’s work is heavily influenced by the natural world. “I live in an area of outstanding beauty,” she says, “and I can’t help being affected by the nature that surrounds me! I’m really interested in textures and surfaces, and am constantly taking photos and making sketches which inspire my work”

Anne is now living in South Devon and has opened her own studio workshop where she produces hand built, functional and sculptural work, together with a range of simple home ware.
